Yankee calculator
Across four horses in different races, a Yankee is 11 bets in total: 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 fourfold. Once you enter how each horse ran, the Yankee calculator shows what all 11 bets pay.
How many bets make up a Yankee?
With no singles in a Yankee, one winner alone returns nothing, since at least two winners are needed for any bet to pay. A £1 stake per bet comes to £11, doubled to £22 by going each way.
| Type of bet | Bets | Cost at £1 a bet |
|---|---|---|
| Doubles | 6 | £6.00 |
| Trebles | 4 | £4.00 |
| Fourfold | 1 | £1.00 |
| All Yankee bets | 11 | £11.00 |
| Each way | 22 | £22.00 |
What a Yankee calculator pays
Use the table to see the return from a £1 Yankee after the first few of its horses win. Odds run 2/1, 3/1, 4/1 and upward, before dead heats or Rule 4 apply.

A Yankee with Rule 4, dead heats and each way
Each way turns a Yankee into 22 bets: half for the win and half for the place, as in the Lucky 15 each way tool. If a rival is withdrawn, Rule 4 cuts the winnings on your selection by pence in the pound, across every bet that includes it. If a selection does not run, it leaves its bets, and those bets continue with the rest. If a dead-heat tie happens, full odds still apply but only half the stake is paid. Every slip entry can be set for Rule 4, dead heat or both.
Lucky 15 or Yankee
Four horses give you 11 bets in a Yankee; a Lucky 15 makes that 15. Take the four singles out of a Lucky 15 and you have this bet; it's cheaper, but one winner alone pays nothing. The Lucky 15 calculator is the right choice when four horses are involved and you want the singles in.
