Heinz calculator
A Heinz needs six horses in separate races and totals 57 bets: 1 sixfold, 6 fivefolds, 15 fourfolds, 20 trebles and 15 doubles. Enter how each horse ran and the Heinz calculator works out the payout on all 57 bets.
How many bets make up a Heinz
There are no singles in a Heinz, so one winner on its own pays nothing; at least two winners are needed for any bet. The cost is £57 at £1 a bet, doubled to £114 if you go each way.
| Type of bet | Bets | Cost at £1 a bet |
|---|---|---|
| Doubles | 15 | £15.00 |
| Trebles | 20 | £20.00 |
| Fourfolds | 15 | £15.00 |
| Fivefolds | 6 | £6.00 |
| Sixfold | 1 | £1.00 |
| All Heinz bets | 57 | £57.00 |
| Each way | 114 | £114.00 |
What a Heinz calculator pays
The table gives the return from a £1 Heinz once the first few horses have won. Prices start at 2/1, 3/1 and 4/1, then rise; no Rule 4 or dead heat is applied.

Heinz bets with each way, dead heats and Rule 4
With each way switched on, a Heinz has 114 bets: one set goes to win, the other to place, as in the each way Lucky 15 calculator. If a rival is withdrawn, Rule 4 removes pence in the pound from what your selection wins, wherever that selection appears in a bet. When a selection does not run it leaves its bets, and those bets go ahead with the rest. Full odds still count in a dead heat, though only half the stake is paid. The slip lets you set Rule 4 or a dead heat on every selection, win or place.
Lucky 15 or Heinz
While a Lucky 15 has 15 bets on four horses, a Heinz has 57 on six. The Super Yankee becomes this bet at six horses, still with no singles. If you are backing four horses and want the singles included, open the calculator for a Lucky 15.
