Trixie calculator
Three horses in different races make up a Trixie: 4 bets in total, with 1 treble and 3 doubles. Once you enter how each horse ran, the Trixie calculator shows what all 4 bets pay.
How many bets does a Trixie have?
Since each bet needs at least two winners, a Trixie has no singles, and one winner on its own returns nothing. Staking £1 on each bet brings the cost to £4; choosing each way doubles it to £8.
| Type of bet | Bets | Cost at £1 a bet |
|---|---|---|
| Doubles | 3 | £3.00 |
| Treble | 1 | £1.00 |
| All Trixie bets | 4 | £4.00 |
| Each way | 8 | £8.00 |
What a Trixie calculator pays
When the first few of the horses win at 2/1, 3/1, 4/1 and larger prices up the list, the table gives the £1 Trixie return, ignoring any Rule 4 or dead heat.
Returns by number of winners, worked out
| Winners | Return | Profit or loss |
|---|---|---|
| One | £0.00 | -£4.00 |
| 2 | £12.00 | +£8.00 |
| All 3 | £107.00 | +£103.00 |
A Trixie with each way, Rule 4 and dead heats
With each way switched on, a Trixie turns into 8 bets: one set betting to win, the other to place. The same split applies in the each way version of the Lucky 15 calculator. If a rival is withdrawn, Rule 4 removes pence in the pound from your selection's winnings, in each bet that includes it. If a selection does not run, it leaves its bets and they continue with the rest. With a dead heat, half the stake is paid at full odds. Every pick on the slip has both buttons: Rule 4 and dead heat.
Choosing between a Trixie and a Lucky 15
Three horses give a Trixie 4 bets, while four horses give a Lucky 15 its 15. A Trixie is the three-horse Lucky 15 version, with singles left out. With four horses, if you want the singles included, switch to the Lucky 15 calculator.
