Lucky 31 calculator
For five horses in separate races, a Lucky 31 combines 31 bets: 1 fivefold, 5 fourfolds, 10 trebles, 10 doubles and 5 singles. Once you enter how each horse ran, the Lucky 31 calculator shows what all 31 bets pay.
How many bets are in a Lucky 31
Since a Lucky 31 has 5 singles, one winner alone still pays something back. With £1 on each bet, the total is £31; choose each way and that doubles to £62 instead.
| Type of bet | Bets | Cost at £1 a bet |
|---|---|---|
| Singles | 5 | £5.00 |
| Doubles | 10 | £10.00 |
| Trebles | 10 | £10.00 |

| All Lucky 31 bets | 31 | £31.00 |
| Each way | 62 | £62.00 |
What a Lucky 31 calculator pays
This table lists the return from a £1 Lucky 31 when its first few horses win. Prices run 2/1, then 3/1, then 4/1, then higher, before Rule 4 applies or any dead heat is counted.
Returns by number of winners, worked out
| Winners | Return | Profit or loss |

| One | £3.00 | -£28.00 |
| 2 | £19.00 | -£12.00 |
| 3 | £119.00 | +£88.00 |
| 4 | £839.00 | +£808.00 |

Lucky 31 each way, dead heats and Rule 4
Turn each way on and your Lucky 31 becomes 62 bets, half to win and half to place, like the each way Lucky 15 calculator. If a rival is withdrawn, Rule 4 cuts the winnings on your selection by pence in the pound, in each bet it is in. If a selection does not run, it comes out of its bets and those bets go on with the others. Full odds still apply in a dead heat, though only half the stake is paid. Each slip selection offers a Rule 4 or dead heat button that applies to both.
Lucky 15 or Lucky 31
With five horses, a Lucky 31 holds 31 bets; with four, a Lucky 15 holds 15. It is a Lucky 15 with a fifth horse added, and that puts each selection into more bets it can win. With four horses, choose the Lucky 15 calculator if you want the singles included.
