Lucky 15 at bet365
bet365 settles a Lucky 15 as 15 equal bets: each way costs twice the stake, and a non-runner drops out while the rest of the bet stands.
bet365's Lucky 15 rules
- Bonuses do not coverTote and Colossus bets (pool bets), place-only bets and Not to Win bets
- Each wayTwice the unit stake; place terms by race, from 1/4 the odds for the first two in races of 5 to 7 runners
- Non-runnerThat selection is void and the rest of the bet stands
- Best Odds GuaranteedIf the starting price beats the price you took, you are paid the bigger one: singles and multiples on UK and Irish racing from 08:00 on race day, for new and eligible customers
A Lucky 15 at bet365 is 15 separate bets on four selections, and each one is settled on its own. Those 15 bets are four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one fourfold. That means even a single winner pays you something, while every extra winner pushes the payout up more quickly.
Rules from bet365's help centre (horse racing rules, each way betting, non-runners) and its Best Odds Guaranteed terms, read on 22 October 2026.

What a Lucky 15 costs
Since the bet is really 15 bets, your unit stake gets charged 15 times. The unit stake is simply what you place on each individual bet. You type that figure into the slip, and the combined total is what leaves your balance.
| Stake per bet | To win | Each-way total |
|---|---|---|
| 10p | £1.50 | £3 |
| 50p | £7.50 | £15 |
| £1 | £15 | £30 |
The Yankee covers the same 4 picks without the singles, giving 11 bets at £11 for a £1 stake. The other £4 of a Lucky 15 is what pays for the 4 singles.
What does a £1 win Lucky 15 pay back?
Each row assumes every selection carries the same odds and the total stake is £15.
| Odds on each selection | Four winners | Three winners | Two winners | One winner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Even money | £80 | £26 | £8 | £2 |
| 2/1 | £255 | £63 | £15 | £3 |
| 3/1 | £624 | £124 | £24 | £4 |
| 5/1 | £2,400 | £342 | £48 | £6 |
Most real slips have a mix of prices. Picture four horses priced 5/1, 4/1, 3/1 and 2/1, with only the 3/1 and 2/1 getting home. You'd collect £3.00 on the 2/1 single and £4.00 on the 3/1 single, plus £12.00 from the double between them. From £15 that's £19.00 returned, leaving £4.00 profit.
Should all 4 win, that same slip pays out £839.00 on your £15.
Backing it each way
Going each way splits each bet into 2 matching halves: one half backs the win, the other backs a place finish. As bet365 explains, an each-way Lucky 15 doubles what you stake overall, taking you from 15 bets to 30. Settlement treats the win halves and place halves on their own.
Take those same 4 horses at £1 each way, so £30 in total. Say the 2/1 wins, the 3/1 places and the remaining 2 lose. You'd see £3.00 from the win half plus £5.88 from the place half, £8.88 in all. Should all 4 win, the return is £905.03.
bet365 place terms by race
Place terms set the fraction of the odds paid for a place and which finishing spots qualify. They vary with the race and how many horses run, and each selection on your slip follows the terms of its own race. The terms below are taken from bet365's each way rules.
| Race type | Place fraction | Positions paid |
|---|---|---|
| Handicap with 16+ runners | 1/4 | 1st to 4th |
| Non-handicap races with 8+ runners (also handicaps of 8 to 11) | 1/5 | 1st to 3rd |
| Handicap with 12 to 15 runners | 1/4 | 1st to 3rd |
| Five to seven runners | 1/4 | 1st and 2nd |
| Fewer than five runners | No place bet | Place money moves to win |
When the place fraction is 1/4, a 4/1 horse pays evens for placing, returning £2.00 for every £1 staked on the place. With a 1/5 fraction, a 5/1 horse likewise pays evens for the place.
If a horse doesn't run
When a horse is pulled out and never runs, that's a non-runner. bet365 voids that selection and works out the bet using the remaining picks. Your £1 Lucky 15 still costs £15, you get £1 back from the non-runner's single, and any bet involving that horse loses that leg, turning a fourfold into a treble, for instance.
So if the three horses left in your bet all win, at odds of 2/1, 3/1 and 4/1, you'd receive £239.00 back on your £15.
